Football

Football, in its most widely recognized form, refers to a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, where the primary objective is to score goals by moving a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of the body except the arms and hands (goalkeepers are exempt from this rule). It is known as soccer in some countries, particularly in the United States and Canada, to differentiate it from American football.

The game is played on a rectangular field, commonly referred to as a pitch, and is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). Matches are typically divided into two halves of 45 minutes each, with the team scoring the most goals declared the winner.

Football is known for its global popularity and is organized at various levels from local leagues to professional clubs and international competitions, the most prestigious of which is the FIFA World Cup. The sport promotes teamwork, strategy, and physical endurance, making it a significant cultural phenomenon in many countries around the world.
