La Liga

La Liga, officially known as the Primera División, is the top professional football (soccer) division in Spain. It is one of the most prestigious leagues in the world, featuring prominent clubs like FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atlético Madrid. Established in 1929, La Liga operates under the auspices of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and is part of the larger system of Spanish football leagues. The league typically consists of 20 teams, and the competition runs from August to May, with each team playing home and away matches against every other team. The teams earn points based on match outcomes, with three points for a win, one point for a draw, and none for a loss. The league champions are determined by the total points accumulated over the season. Additionally, the bottom-performing teams face relegation to the Segunda División, while the top teams from that division are promoted to La Liga.
