Fotbal

„Fotbal“ is the term used in several languages, primarily in European contexts, to refer to the sport known as soccer in North America. It is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, who aim to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s goal using any part of their body except their arms and hands (goalkeepers are an exception). The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end.

„Fotbal“ encompasses various aspects such as the rules of the game (governed by FIFA), player positions, strategies, leagues, and tournaments like the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship. The sport is one of the most popular and widely followed sports globally, with a rich history and cultural significance in many countries. The term itself is derived from the combination of „foot“ and „ball,“ indicating the primary action of the game.
