Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, primarily using feet, although players can also use their heads and torsos. Each match consists of two halves, usually lasting 45 minutes each, with a halftime interval.

The game is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. Players must adhere to the Laws of the Game, which are maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) and regulated by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) at the international level. Soccer is characterized by its emphasis on skillful ball control, teamwork, and strategy, making it one of the most popular and widely played sports in the world. The FIFA World Cup, held every four years, is the sport’s premier international competition and draws significant global attention.
