Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, typically on a rectangular field with goalposts at either end. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s net. Players primarily use their feet to kick the ball, though they can use their heads and torsos, but goalkeepers are the only players allowed to handle the ball with their hands within the penalty area.

The most widely recognized form of football is association football, commonly known as soccer in the United States and Canada, which is governed internationally by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association). Other popular variations of football include American football, Canadian football, rugby football, and Australian rules football, each having its own distinct rules and variations in gameplay.

Football is one of the most popular sports globally, celebrated for its athleticism, strategy, and the passion it evokes among players and fans alike. The sport also fosters teamwork, discipline, and community engagement. Football competitions range from local grassroots levels to international tournaments, such as the FIFA World Cup.
